SHOWCASE NATIONAL DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS - JUPITERS CASINO GOLD COAST
Congratulations to the 20 Davin GJ students for their terrific performances up on the Gold Coast.
A massive congratulations to Mean Girls and Beetlejuice for making it into the prestigous Battle of the Stars held in the Jupiters Theatre. This is what every school strives to get into too and we DID IT!!! Battle of the Stars is the top 6 scoring group acts out of the whole competition during the week (we are talking 100's of routines) battle it out in the theatre and to our thrill Junior Elite with Mean Girls won 2nd place!! and Senior Elite with Beetlejuice won 5th place!! Issabella stepped in at the last minute for Beetlejuice and did such a wonderful job! Learnt the routine in the morning then performed it in the afternoon, AMAZING!!!!!!
We also WON the prestigous BEST COSTUME AWARD!! For our over the top Priscilla costume!!! It wowed the audience and judges!! 10 of our costumes were selected for the Best Costume Parade at Battle of the Stars! So once again Davin GJ had the best overall costumes of the competition!!

Australia Day Celebrations are at a new location this year which is, Balcombe Heights Estate, Seven Hills Road, Baulkham Hills.
WOW!!! BEST CONCERT EVER!!!
Congratulations to all students! You guys produced our BEST concert in our 10 year history!! So many wonderful performances!! From the spectacular opening, to our 2nd Half down memory lane! Some wonderful feedback has been coming through already! Performing is all about entertaining! When putting on a concert one's main objective should be to entertain the audience, you will NEVER see a Davin GJ concert that has one dance routine after another, with no theme, no emotional connection with the audience and when you mix this with the wonderful talent that the students have, you have a winning formula!! It was great to see some past Davin GJ students and teachers in the audience too!! It was a night to remember!!

Congratulations on an absolutely outstanding concert for 2009 - Cirque Le Pasee. It will certainly go down as one of Davin GJ's best! From the magnificent dancing, fantastic costumes, great music and lighting it had the audience, from the begining to the end, waiting and wanting more.As a "dancer" myself now, I can appreciate the hard work and effort that goes on behind the scenes. It is mind boggling watching them all get changed and ready for their next performance. I would also like to commend all the dancers on their outstanding behaviour back stage, they are all so respectful and helpful to each other.Once again congratulations and I look forward to another exciting year of dance next year!

Congratulations to the Showcase Group for claiming 3rd in the Grand Final. This was the toughest Junior Quest I have witnessed! The singers were AMAZING!! We were the top dance act!! Thanks to everyone that came!!

INVITED TO PERFORM AT THE SPASTIC CENTRE FUNDRAISING BALL
The showcase group have been invited to perform at the Annual Spastic Centre Fundraising Ball and open the show!! Somebody watched the kids perform at Marconi and told the Event Company that they 'MUST' have us perform on the night.
Not only is it a great honour but it is for a wonderful cause!
1ST AGAIN!!
Congratulations to the Showcase Group for winning 1st at the Talent Quest on Sunday. We were up against other dance schools and solo singers and we blew away the judges with Join the Circus and When Somebody Loved Me. We got amazing comments from the judges ( as they give you feedback live on stage, Australian Idol style). Thank you to all the family and friends that came!! Now onto the Grand Final!!
Tap Exam Results!!
WOW!! What can I say!! The students got amazing results!! 98% of students scored over 95!! Congratulations to all the students especially our 3 top scorers with 98.5 Level 3 - Aaron Noble, Jessica Rego and Level 6 - Alicia Fazzolari.
Movie/TV and iCarly Star MIranda Cosgrove is visiting Australia for the Nickelodeon Awards and Davin GJ has been selected to perform the iCarly theme song at Castle Towers Monday Nov 16th just before Miranda appears on stage.
We are very fortunate to have been chosen by the company and we should feel very privileged. Davin have been advised to select 5 students to dance!! The kids are soooo excited!!
Glenn Wood Tap Exams Completed for 2009
Congratulations to all the Tap Exam students. We were very fortunate to have Mr Glenn Wood himself come and adjudicate the students. He was truly impressed with all of them! He said they are wonderful dancers and can not wait to see them next year. The improvement in all the students tap this year has been remarkable!! The Glenn Wood syllabus is such a tremoundous syllabus and I am so glad we introduced to the studio this year.

SHOWCASE NATIONAL DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
7 ROUTINES = 7 TROPHIES - AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had amazing results at Showcase National Dance Championships on the week-end! We had the 2nd highest scoring Group Routine of ALL ROUTINES at Showcase with our Join the Circus routine with the score of 96.55!!! 2nd highest out of the whole competition, that's over 100 routines. Highest Score of the day was only 0.5 higher!!! All the students were FANTASTIC!!!! Below are the results of our routines. To only enter 7 routines and all score over 92 is a wonderful achievement.

We also won the prestigous BEST COSTUME AWARD!! Normally this is awarded to one routine from the comp but Davin GJ was awarded this outright!! Fantastic!!!

SENIOR ELITE WIN 1ST AT RYDE EISTEDDFOD
Our winning streak continues with Senior Elite winning the Open Jazz Section at Ryde Eisteddfod, beating some stiff competition!! The adjudicator commented on their strong technique, wonderful choreography and overall strong performance. Davin was unable to be there as he had a show but heard such great reports back! Well done girls.

Well done to the Juniors who performed in the Elvis Spectaular at Bankstown Sports Club on Saturday night. You stole the show!!! When the girls were leaving the auditorium the whole auditorium stood up and appluaded them!!! You were fantastic!!

Congratulations to Junior Elite who won 2nd place in Australia's most prestigous Dance Comp the McDonalds Performing Arts Challenge (City of Sydney Eisteddfod). Once again you blew the audience away!!!!

Our North Ryde studio was set up on Monday night to hold the auditions for the new Dance Team for Star City. Davin conducted the audition and said the standard was extremley high. Davin GJ students need to keep stretching as these girls were super flexi!!! Keep your eye out for the Dance Team at Star City Friday and Saturday nights starting late August!

Congratulations to Jessica Rookeward who claimed Highly Commeneded (4th) in the Solo Vocal section at the City of Sydney Eistedffod (McDonalds Performing Arts Challenge) There were over 40 entrants!!!!
1st Place at Ryde Eisteddfod
Congratulations to our 'big' group for claiming 1st Prize in the Musical Theatre section of Ryde Eisteddfod!! You guys blew away the audience and the adjudicator once again!!! The adjudicator gave as a glowing report and her final comment was ' It was a privilege to experience that sort of entertainment'!! Check out her full report here!!
Once again it was a high standard section!! Thanks to all the parents for your support, you have all been so enthusiastic which rubs off onto the students and it shows on stage!
Congratulations to all Variety Night performers!! You all performed beautifully!!! It was 2 great nights of entertainment!!
1ST IN HORNSBY EISTEDDFOD!!!!!!!!!
All Elite and Showcase students had AMAZING Results!! This was our 1st Eisteddfod in a LONG time and with Brand New Routines. We only entered 3 routines and ALL routines claimed a PLACE!!! The adjudicator was Danny from SYTYCD.
Congratulations to Junior Elite for claiming 1st PRIZE at the Hornsby Eisteddfod out of 20 acts!!! You guys ROCKED!!! Other schools teachers also said how 'FANTASTIC' you guys were. You sure know how to play 'MEAN GIRLS' and Hiroto was awesome as always!! They were also competing against groups with 3 times more students in them. Well Done!!!
Senior Elite claimed Highly Commended (4th) in the OPEN AGE JAZZ . This was a big section with 30 acts. This was a massive acheivement as you beat groups with 30+ in it and a lot older then them too. You absolutely shone up on stage! Your technique was 'Perfect' as Danny said!!
Then Our New Musical Theatre Routine claimed 2nd Prize!!! Danny said this was the highest standard section in the whole Eisteddfod and we got an extremely high score of 95!! Forgot to take pic of the big group so ....Congratulations to all performing students Kobe, Emily, Emma, Alicia, Katia, Issabella, Abbey, Kennedy, Ayla, Hiroto, Jessica Rego, Jessica Bucca, Jessica Rookeward, Maddy, Alison, Mitchell, Monique, Tomo, Matilda and Aaron. These students have been working soooo hard this year and it's great to see it paid off!! Lets continue this awesome form!!

On Sunday I was fortunate to see Chicago at Star City with Carelle. The ticket was a present from the North Ryde students last year. Thank you to the Fazzolari's for organising it.
Last week I went to the Launch of the Sydney Season of Wicked at the Capitol Theatre.
It was great to meet the stars of the show and watch them perform some numbers. If you are interested in seeing the show, please see Carelle and we'll see if we can get a group booking organised.

Past Davin GJ student Bridgett Letters is still dancing up a storm in Europe. Bridgett has been dancing with the Vienna Ballet and had just been accepted into Ballet Ireland for their upcoming Season. Bridgett was the only dancer chosen from the invite only audition with over 70 girls and 50 boys auditioning. Everyone at Davin GJ says a BIG ' CONGRATS!!'
